LOOSE SUTURES… The Band from Sardinia!
Formed in June 2019, the Loose Sutures are a 4 Sardinian guys who plays classic ‘70s riffs with a pinch of modern fuzz rock attitude; a blend of stoner and garage spirit. Recorded in autumn 2019, their self-titled album was published in March 2020 via Electric Valley Records.
9 tracks and 5 inerludes, depicting killer profiles and kinky love stories. In December 2019 they dropped their first single “Shoot it down”.In February Loose Sutures released another single “I need a million” a cover tribute to the cbgb’s cult band the Laughing Dogs, and in March their third single “Lie”, which features Trevor Peres from Obituary.
During summer 2020 the guitarist/singer Gianpaolo Cherchi left the band.Soon after young guitar player Giuseppe Hussain joined the band.
In February/March 2021 Loose Sutures recorded their new album “a gash with sharped teeth and other tales” at RKS studio: 10 brand new tracks bringing new sounds; harder, faster, hotter.Hipnotic guitar textures mixed with a solid rhythm session.
I believe that LOOSE SUTURES is an amazing band from Sardinia, the 4th Sardinian guys came to write their own great story in the world of music!
It was a rainy November day when we had an interview with the LOOSE SUTURES members!
Athenscalling.gr: Hello Sardinia magic island! Welcome guys in Athenscalling.gr webzine of culture. I like very much your music!
LOOSE SUTURES: Hi , it’s such a pleasure to be hosted on your webzine and we are so glad you enjoyed our new album.
Athenscalling.gr: Pandemic days with many victims, how spend your time all these crazy days?
LOOSE SUTURES: pandemic is a big disaster everywhere! During the first period we tried to get connected and play music with cell phones: such a shit!Then we grabbed the first chance to escape from our houses and we went to an old strip club; there was room enough to play without masks in safety.
In that filthy place “a gash with sharp teeth and other tales “was born.
Athenscalling.gr: O.k let’s talk about the music now… I think that is more better than all the others! At first, tell us please about your music genres. I mean how can characterise your music sound. Stoner?Garage?Punk?Psychedelic? or something else?
LOOSE SUTURES: We call it heavy garage fuzz. It fits to our music; basically there are two souls melting: an hard rock/stoner one and a punk/garage one. In the first album they were separated and we tried to mix them in the new one.
Athenscalling.gr: Your influences, do you have it?
LOOSE SUTURES: From Black Sabbath to Buzzcocks from Kyuss to Fuzz. Each one of us got his personal milestone, but when we start composing we want the loose sutures sound to come out.

Athenscalling.gr: About your songs what is the reason, that you write the lyrics and the music?
LOOSE SUTURES: We always start from guitar riffs ,then we add the rhythm session finally we put the vocals. Talking about the lyrics we take inspiration from all the weird, reepy, kinky things that surround us every time.
Athenscalling.gr: Loose Sutures is the name of your band, who was the Godfather of the name. There is a story about it?
LOOSE SUTURES: I guess the godfather was Antonio : it’s an image to ty seagull’s fuzz . In that period I chopped my finger with a knife and that name seemed to be perfect.
Athenscalling.gr: Any story about the title of your amazing and great album “ Gash With Sharp Teeth And Other Tales”?
LOOSE SUTURES: If you listen to sunny cola you will find the phrase “ like a cunt with sharp teeth “. Of course we couldn’t use it because of censorship so we changed a little bit and that’s it!
Athenscalling.gr: I would like now to tell us, about your album cover! I think that it is too much impressive… it is a fantastic cover, like a comic book, tell us about it.
LOOSE SUTURES: Marco Nieddu ( 1782 singer, electric Valley records founder) did it. That’s a beautiful artwork that reflects immediately all the loose sutures world.

MARCO(LOOSE SUTURES): The Beatles… White Album.
ANTONIO(LOOSE SUTURES): Faith no More… King for a Day.
GIUSEPPE(LOOSE SUTURES): Sepultura… Schizophrenia
Athenscalling.gr: Living today, any news from your band…about your today and future plans?
LOOSE SUTURES: We are working on new songs and we are planning a tour. It’s going to be hard because of pandemic, but we can’t wait to jump on stage in every country around the world.
Athenscalling.gr: Let’s travel now… Do you know anything you like about my country about Greece?
LOOSE SUTURES: Greece is the cradle of culture, an amazing place and we would love to play there! Although there’s a huge heavy metal scene,, one of the best in Europe.
