Interview CLAUDIA BRUCKNER…

Athenscalling.gr: First of all, dear Claudia Bruckner, welcome to AthensCalling.gr.
I would also like to express my admiration for the fact that you have spoken publicly about mental health, sobriety, and personal growth. However, how difficult is it for an artist to be so open and honest in an era where social media often showcases only the “perfect” side of life and little else?

Claudia Bruckner (Pure Chlorine): I think it’s really important to be transparent with the fact that social media is so often just a highlight reel staged to be perfect. I enjoy being honest with my struggle I think it could help someone else realise they’re not alone.

Athenscalling.gr: O.k and now Winning the Red Bull Band Contest has brought you to Nova Rock 2026. What was your reaction when you learned that you would be sharing a festival lineup with legendary acts such as Iron Maiden, The Cure and Bring Me The Horizon?

Claudia Bruckner (Pure Chlorine): I couldn’t believe it. I instantly remembered 16 year old me at a festival being enchanted by the energy thinking if I could ever be on a stage like this I would have made it. It’s such a bucket list moment so it really meant a lot to finally live the dream.
Being on the lineup next to these amazing artists feels surreal but very exciting

Athenscalling.gr: Every band has a defining moment when things start to feel real. Has winning this contest changed the way you see your future as a band, and if so, how?

Claudia Bruckner (Pure Chlorine):
It just made our dream feel possible – like a sign that we’re on a good path. It’s moments like these that make it all worth it.
A lot of people reached out to congratulate me so it really felt like a huge milestone

Athenscalling.gr: Festivals often introduce artists to completely new audiences. If someone discovers Pure Chlorine for the very first time at Nova Rock, what do you hope they will remember about your performance?

Claudia Bruckner (Pure Chlorine): I hope they’ll remember how much fun we had. If they have a good time I’m happy. I also hope they remember dancing and feeling the music maybe even some lyrics

Athenscalling.gr: The Austrian alternative and rock scene has produced many exciting new acts in recent years. Where do you see Pure Chlorine fitting into that landscape, and what makes your sound stand out?

Claudia Bruckner (Pure Chlorine): it’s been really fun discovering so much new local music. I think I’ve always just done what felt good and authentic. So the sound changes as I change.
I’m not sure where I fit in – I just try to focus on my thing cause comparison is the thief of joy.

Athenscalling.gr: Looking beyond Nova Rock, what are the next goals for Pure Chlorine? Are there any new recordings, tours, or creative projects that fans should be watching out for in 2026?

Claudia Bruckner (Pure Chlorine): We’re working on our debut album which is definitely a very exciting experience I’m so in love with how it sounds i genuinely can’t wait to share the music

Athenscalling.gr: Many successful bands describe their early festival appearances as life-changing experiences. What would it mean to you if your Nova Rock performance became the moment that takes Pure Chlorine to the next level internationally?

Claudia Bruckner (Pure Chlorine): obviously that would be the dream/ goal but I’m just really enjoying the ride and being very grateful I get to do this even if it’s hard work.
