Since its inception in 2005, the festival has established itself as one of the most important rock/metal events in Europe, attracting thousands of fans from all over the world.
The year 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of the festival, and all signs point to a more spectacular edition than ever before.

Athenscalling.gr: Nova Rock Festival 2025, and once again, with great pleasure and a few cold beers in hand, we have in front of us the Head of the Press Office, Gerold Haubner… Our friend Haubi, cheers!

GEROLD HAUBNER (Head of Promotion NOVA ROCK FESTIVAL): Hello again!

Athenscalling.gr: Nova Rock Festival from June 11-14, 2025, in the Pannonia Fields area of Nickelsdorf, Austria—one of the most important festivals, not only in Europe but worldwide! What do you believe is the significance and message of NOVA ROCK FESTIVAL?
GEROLD HAUBNER (Head of Promotion NOVA ROCK FESTIVAL): The Nova Rock Festival simply stands for RockNRoll and good vibes, a peaceful togetherness full of friendships and respect. We simply want to celebrate a big party with all visitors and are eagerly waiting for it to start.

Athenscalling.gr: Having followed NOVA ROCK FESTIVAL for so many years, we have nothing but praise for its organization and presentation!
This year, compared to previous years, can we expect something different, perhaps some changes?

GEROLD HAUBNER (Head of Promotion NOVA ROCK FESTIVAL): We are of course always working on improvements without changing the basic character too much. Stages and the arena are constantly undergoing a facelift, and the food on offer is also expanded every year. Of course, we also pay a lot of attention to the environment and sustainability. Visitors notice this and we always get grateful feedback.

Athenscalling.gr: A perhaps common but necessary question—how long does the preparation for such a massive festival take?

GEROLD HAUBNER (Head of Promotion NOVA ROCK FESTIVAL): After the festival is before the festival. There is no standstill. We work all year round.

Athenscalling.gr: Is there a different approach this year regarding the selection of artists we will see?
GEROLD HAUBNER (Head of Promotion NOVA ROCK FESTIVAL): First of all, we have to say that we are very happy to welcome Linkin Park to Nova Rock with the few shows they play. With Spiritbox, The Warning, Landmvrks, Motionless in White we have the absolute high-flyers on the program, but we are also looking forward to well-tried bands like Korn, Iggy Pop, In Flames, Electric Callboy. To all the bands actually, and of course to the local bands like Wanda, Igel vs. Shark and my favourites Wendi’s Böhmische Blasmusik.

Athenscalling.gr: Any surprise names or artists that the audience didn’t expect to see this year?

GEROLD HAUBNER (Head of Promotion NOVA ROCK FESTIVAL): I didn’t expect to see Refused again, for example, but the program is so varied again this year that there’s always a surprise or two.

Athenscalling.gr: Every year, we get to enjoy everything our hearts desire (as we say in Greece). Will visitors find any new amenities at the festival this year?

GEROLD HAUBNER (Head of Promotion NOVA ROCK FESTIVAL): Yeah, the weather will definitely be better than in 2022

Athenscalling.gr: Every year, I must say, you excel in ensuring visitor safety! However, since we live in challenging times, we’d like to ask whether there will be any new security measures or technologies implemented at the festival this year?

GEROLD HAUBNER (Head of Promotion NOVA ROCK FESTIVAL): Here too, of course, we are moving with the times and implementing the findings of recent years well. We take safety very seriously.

Athenscalling.gr: Before we say goodbye and raise another beer to our health… Hand on heart—what has been your personal favorite moment from organizing the festival over the years?

GEROLD HAUBNER (Head of Promotion NOVA ROCK FESTIVAL): Having a beer with my friends from Greece, enjoying the final fireworks and seeing happy faces. Because that’s when we know that we’ve done everything right again this year.
