Andrea Krakovská … The Aerial guitarist!

Andrea Krakovská represents a new breed of artists redefining what it means to be a guitarist in today’s performance landscape. By combining electric guitar with aerial arts, she has developed a distinctive artistic identity that merges musical skill with physical expression.

Her background is not limited to music. With strong training in performing arts—especially aerial disciplines such as silks and hoop—she built the foundation for a hybrid form of expression where the guitar becomes an extension of the body rather than just an instrument.

She has performed internationally in festivals, theatrical productions, and corporate shows, gaining recognition for her ability to play guitar under physically demanding conditions—often suspended in the air or upside down. This approach requires not only technical precision but also strength, endurance, and exceptional body control.

In addition to her solo work, she has collaborated with performance-based groups like Toxic Girls, where music, dance, and visual spectacle come together. These experiences further shaped her identity as a multidisciplinary performer.

Since 2024, she has been a member of the Australian new wave band Pseudo Echo, contributing both musically and visually to the band’s live performances. Her presence adds a contemporary and theatrical dimension to their stage identity.

Alongside her collaborations, she is also developing her own original material, exploring rock and instrumental music with a strong emphasis on melody and atmosphere.
Andrea Krakovská is not just a guitarist—she is a performer who bridges sound and movement, creating a fully immersive artistic experience.

INTERVIEW… With Amazing Andrea Krakovská!

Athenscalling.gr: How does performing in the air affect your guitar playing, both technically and emotionally?

Andrea Krakovská: Performing in the air has been my passion for many years, however it does come with it’s challenges! Technically it is quite difficult to play after I’ve climbed up the silk or the rope because my arms are pumped full of lactic acid from the climb. Then there’s also the physical challenge of playing upside down and trying to hold my arms up while playing and moving in different positions. Emotionally it is very liberating to be playing in the air, but I am also slightly terrified at the same time haha!

Athenscalling.gr:Was there a defining moment when you decided to combine aerial arts with music?

Andrea Krakovská: It was after my very first aerial class. I remember walking into this class not really knowing what I was getting myself into. When I arrived two of the instructors were rehearsing for an upcoming performance on silks and this was when I first saw exactly what ‘aerial arts’ was and I was blown away! I left that class already thinking that I want to do that with a guitar some day.

Athenscalling.gr: What has been the most challenging aspect of performing under such physical conditions?!

Andrea Krakovská: In my aerial show I could be performing for over an hour (a combination of playing in the air and on the ground). The most challenging part was working on my stamina and pacing so that I don’t fatigue too early in the set. In the months leading up to the shows I have to dedicate large amounts of time to both guitar practice and fitness/strength to be able to do what I do in the show!

Athenscalling.gr: How would you describe your experience as a member of Pseudo Echo, and what do you bring to the band?

Andrea Krakovská: Performing with Pseudo Echo for the past 18 months has been an incredible experience! I got the gig just a couple of months after my previous touring band had broken up so I feel like the opportunity came at the perfect time. For my first show with Pseudo Echo I only had a very short time to learn the set. I remember staying up in my hotel room the night before the show going over the songs again and again (and probably annoying my neighbours). In terms of what I bring to the band I would say I bring my dedication, experience and plenty of energy and enthusiasm to the stage!
Athenscalling.gr: Do you see your future more in music, performance art, or a continued fusion of both?
Andrea Krakovská: I love both the musicality and the performance side so I would definitely say a fusion of both! Whether I’m playing in the corner of a pub playing covers or rockin’ out to thousands at a big festival I’m always performing my heart out. I feel like I belong on the stage and I always give all I can to my performances. Musically I do love writing guitar melodies and licks. I also love the creative process of putting songs together and layering different instruments and sounds. When I’m writing I’m also thinking about the performance and how the songs will translate to the live show so that’s also a big part of my writing process.

Athenscalling.gr: You play the guitar amazingly well – but also you are a very beautiful woman. Does this play any role in your overall artistic career?

Andrea Krakovská: Thank you for the kind words! I know every woman (and man) in the industry has their own experience but my experiences as a woman in music have overall been very positive! In fact I got my first real break playing in an all-girl band, and I strongly believe that if it wasn’t for that band I wouldn’t be doing what I am today.

Athenscalling.gr: Let’s now take a trip into the past. Do you remember at what age you bought your first album and which one it was?

Andrea Krakovská: I don’t think it was my first album but I remember receiving a copy of Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ album when I was first getting into guitar and that album shaped my guitar playing at the time. I’d never heard anything like it before and I pretty much learnt to play power chords by playing that entire album back to front.

Athenscalling.gr: And since we are traveling, let’s go somewhere in the south, more specifically to Greece. What do you know about our country?

Andrea Krakovská: I know Greece is a very beautiful country with an amazing history and I would love to visit one day, maybe even play a show!

Athenscalling.gr: As a closing to everything you have told us, we would like you to send your own message to planet Earth.

Andrea Krakovská: If I could send a message to the world I would encourage people to make space for their dreams. For me it was playing guitar while spinning upside down, and if I can manage to do that then imagine what the rest of the world could achieve!

Athenscalling.gr: All the best to you Andrea , thanks about your interview.
Andrea Krakovská: Thanks for having me and for supporting my music. I can’t wait to see you in Greece one day!
