26 Years of Frequency Festival… Interview with Harry Jenner the Festival Pr. Manager.

For three unforgettable days, from 20 to 22 August 2026, 140.000 music fans are expected to gather in St. Pölten, Austria, to experience one of the world’s most spectacular music festivals. Athenscalling.gr, which has proudly covered the festival for many years, once again returns to the heart of the action.
On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of FM4 Frequency Festival, we met with its founder, Harry Jenner, Festival PR Manager, for an exclusive and highly engaging interview, reflecting on the remarkable journey of the festival over the past 26 years.

Athenscalling.gr: Welcome back, Harry! It’s great to have the chance to speak with you again. Over the years we’ve followed the journey of Frequency Festival through our interviews, and with the festival celebrating its 26th anniversary, we’re happy to catch up once again. Thank you for joining Athens Calling.gr

HARRY JENNER: thank you for being such a true follower of frequency festival and that you hardly ever miss an edition of my beautiful festival !

Athenscalling: This year, Frequency Festival celebrates 26 years. Looking back, what achievement makes you the proudest, and did you ever imagine the festival would become one of Europe’s biggest music events?

HARRY JENNER: Well when I started in 2001 and when it became 2002 already Austrias biggest festival, all I could think of was to have a great time & festival and to “survive” all issues and problems and topics that came up unexpected and not planed as we all had to learn the hard way how to produce a big festival with 50.000 visitors per day.

Athenscalling.gr:Over these 26 years, the music industry has changed dramatically. How has Frequency managed to stay relevant while keeping its own identity?
HARRY JENNER:Frequency festival is a music event for the young genereation and has to reset almost every 5 years to stay on top of the ever changing youth directions and new fav music genres. This is hard hand also happening right now.

Athenscalling.gr: What do you think today’s festival audience expects that was completely different from the expectations of the first Frequency visitors 26 years ago?

HARRY JENNER:They clearly need more entertainment off the stages and way more comfort than we used to have 26 years ago. Glamping is a big thing now and even the showers have hot water these days :- ))

Athenscalling.gr: Many artists have played Frequency before becoming global superstars. Is there one performance that, looking back, you now consider truly historic?

HARRY JENNER: For example we had Ed Sheeran playing in 2012 in the afternoon 😊We also booked Billie Eilish super early for 2019, so she was also playing in the late afternoon, rather than as a headliner

Athenscalling.gr:After 26 years of success, what still motivates you personally to keep developing Frequency Festival, and what can fans expect from the years ahead?
HARRY JENNER: Of course after almost 26 years to always come up with new stuff is hard, but we start working with the next generation in may company and let them take over some parts of the festival and this is also a way to re-new the festival each year.
Also I still love going to other festivals myself
